What do you do with all the poop? In accordance with local regulations, it is hauled off to the landfill.
Do you take it with you? Yes! All the bombs are removed from your property with a few exceptions such as it's frozen in a glacier in the shady corner, it's under leaves, I blinked and missed it, or it is used to fill in holes the dog has created, especially if it can be an escape route under the fence.
Why does my dog poop so much? Either you’re overfeeding your dog or you feed a crappy food. The average dog on a good quality food poops 15-18 times each week—puppies more, really old dogs less. Some breeds, like Boxers, poop more than others.
Why does my dog’s urine stink? Intact males have a strong odor. I’d recommend chopping those balls off and feeding a high quality food. It can also be caused by a urinary tract infection, take a sample to your vet.
Why does my dog eat poop? Cat poop is always attractive! Eating their own poop can be in indication of poor digestion, illness, or boredom. Try switching brands and formulas of dog food. I’ve noticed some brands like Solid Gold or Wellness tend to taste yummy the second time around. Also, antibiotics destroy the digestive flora and can be countered with digestive enzymes and/or Acidophilus tablets, the same thing that’s in yogurt.
How many dogs do you have? About 200, but only 2 are lucky enough to live in my home. The rest live in my heart.
Do you give dogs treats? No! Most of my dogs are fat and I don’t dare give them any more to eat. Sometimes I will give cookies to a dog that isn’t sure if I’m OK, but this is rare.
Is it OK for my dog to be outside when you come? Depends on the dog. Most of my dogs are really happy to see me and vice-versa. Some are guard dogs and just doing their job and will send me to the ER if they’re given the chance—those dogs need to be confined! Dogs act differently when you are not home, if you’re not sure about yours, keep them inside or call to arrange for a meeting when you are home. If your dog won’t let me in the yard, I’ll let you know.
How does it work? After the initial information is gathered over the phone it’s pretty simple—I sneak into your yard while you’re at work and steal your shit! Around the first of the month, I bill your credit or debit card. As long as you keep paying me, you’ll never have to deal with it again.
Do I have to sign a contract? Nope! Service can be started or stopped with a simple phone call to 541-617-1900.
Do you take credit cards? YES. This is the preferred method of payment. Cash or trade is also acceptable. Some things I’ve traded service for in the past: massages, auto repairs, credit at a restaurant, haircuts, lawyer services, a digital camera and beer. Yes, I once did a spring clean-up for someone who works at a local brewery.
Do you service Redmond, Prineville, LaPine or Sisters? Nope! The Bomb Squad services only Bend, Oregon, at this time.
What happens when it rains? I wear raingear and suffer.
What happens when it snows? If it snows over an inch, I can’t find it and I get the day off. However, if it hasn’t snowed in the previous 2 days, or has melted, I will be out and about to get what I can. Some yards melt off sooner than others and when the snow finally does melt, your yard will be thoroughly cleaned at no additional charge. Likewise, no credit is given for snow days because the poop is still there, waiting for me.
Why does my dog’s pee kill the grass? A healthy dog’s urine (both male and female) will kill the grass, if this is a problem to you, train them to pee somewhere else! I know plenty of dogs that are trained to potty in specific areas, like only on the bark. Giving your dog pills to prevent grass burns will alter your dog’s Ph balance and can lead to serious health problems in the long run. Also, the higher the percentage of protein in the diet, the more the grass will be killed. However, some breeds require a higher amount of protein (pitts, rotties, huskies) than others to maintain optimal health.
How come goose & deer poop disappears but dog bombs are forever? In the Central Oregon climate, it takes forever for dog poop to decompose! This is partly because of our weather, but mostly because your dog is eating processed, reconstituted food with preservatives in it. Deer & geese are eating whole, natural, vegetarian foods and it will disappear more quickly. Feed your dog a raw diet and their poop will disappear faster too, but then you’ll have to deal with maggots and flies because dogs eat meat.
